Guardian Unlimited | Columnists | George Monbiot: Fraud and corruption

The Guardian is a centenarian London newspaper, slanted to the left, but very scrupulous about its reporting. George Monbiot is one of its permanent fixtures. In the press of business, the Guardian had been absent from our radar screens for some time. I could not resist to share with you this account about money, money spent and money wasted, money uncounted and money dispersed by the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, according to an audit report by its Inspector General. Let us not forget that the Bush Administration has two leading principles: ideology (for politicians, ideology is mothers milk) and money (how to get it out of the hands of the undeserving). Surprised? Don't be, that is what American Democracy is coming to.
