How did it happen that in a nation that championed human rights all over the globe, torture has been adopted as an acceptable weapon. First: everybody agrees, yes, even the military, that it does not work. Prisoners will agree to say anything to get them off the hook. The intelligence thus obtained is valueless.
Second: Torture degrades the torturer more than the prisoner. What kind of thinking can condone these practices as accepted policy?
Think about it. What are we becoming?
